Staying safe on Zapurr

Zapurr shows animals that need help near real locations. That means it sometimes puts you near people you don’t know. Here is how we reduce that risk, and what we ask of you.
We don’t publish exact locations
A new stray report shows an approximate area, not a precise point. The exact spot only appears once a second, independent person confirms they have seen the same animal. Animals move, so an approximate area is usually just as useful for finding one — and it keeps a report from pointing strangers at someone’s home.
You can always send a rescue group instead
Every report offers the option to notify a local rescue organisation or vet rather than going yourself. You are never required to attend in person.
Meeting safely
- Go in daylight and stay in public places.
- Bring someone with you if you can.
- Never go inside a stranger’s home.
- Hand animals over at a vet or clinic.
Members under 18
Members under 18 are never shown exact locations. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up for that reason, and it is used for nothing else.
Reporting a problem
Tap Report on any pin, photo, or member. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. A reported item is hidden immediately, before a human looks at it, so nobody else is sent to it in the meantime. You can also block any member from Settings → Blocked Users; blocking is immediate and mutual.
What we cannot protect
Once you and another member move to another messaging app, phone, or an in-person meeting, none of the protections above apply. Please keep coordination inside Zapurr until you are comfortable.
